Pursue the MBA or choose to deepen your expertise in accounting, finance, management, or marketing.
MBA
The general business administration concentration is the most flexible and customizable MBA degree at Monmouth. You’ll get to pick electives from across business specializations, giving you a chance to learn from a range of faculty members and alongside a diverse group of peers. You may choose between a mix of in-person and online classes or pursue the part-time, online pathway.
MBA – Advanced Accounting Concentration
The advanced accounting concentration might appeal to you if you’d like to work as an accountant for public and private companies, government agencies, or an accounting firm — as well as in accounting-related roles in other fields. You’ll gain a foundation in budgeting, auditing, and taxes, while honing your collaboration, speaking, presentation, and analytics skills.
Non-accounting majors may complete the program by meeting the following prerequisites:
- BA-311: Intermediate Accounting I
- BA-312: Intermediate Accounting II
- BA-401: Advanced Accounting
- BA-370: Accounting Information Systems OR BA-413: Auditing Theory
- BA-316: Individual Income Tax OR BA-417: Business Income Taxation
- or other equivalents
MBA – Finance Concentration
The finance concentration builds both technical and leadership skills to help you succeed in corporate finance, banking, investments, and more. You’ll have the flexibility to choose courses that align with your specific interests in the overarching field. Plus, you’ll have a chance to develop real-world trading and analyst skills at Monmouth’s Bloomberg Finance Lab.
MBA – Marketing Concentration
Marketers bolster brand awareness, build relationships, and boost profitability. This concentration prepares you to succeed in high-level marketing roles in organizations as diverse as nonprofits and healthcare to technology, entertainment, and consumer goods. You’ll build a mix of analytical, technical, and people skills through an array of courses and hands-on learning experiences.
MBA – Management Concentration
Whether you want to manage people or manage projects, this flexible MBA concentration will help you build critical skills to effectively lead and motivate teams. With an emphasis on ethics and sustainability, you’ll explore modern best practices for leading in a global and interconnected world.
Curriculum and Requirements
Graduate business students come to Monmouth with a variety of academic and professional backgrounds. Your specific course requirements and timeline may vary based on your previous education and work experience.
Foundation Requirements (15 Credits)
Pending an audit of your prior coursework, you may be qualified to waive some or all of the following required foundation courses:
- Microeconomics
- Macroeconomics
- MBA Accounting
- Business Finance
- Foundations of Marketing Management
- Introduction to Management
- Introduction to Statistics
- Production and Operations Management

MBA Core Requirements (21 Credits)
MBA program requirements also include a group of core courses from across business functions and specialties, including:

How Long Does it Take to Get an MBA?
Your completion time depends on whether you’re attending full- or part-time and if you are getting credit for any courses based on your individual academic and work history.

Application Overview: How to Get an MBA Degree at Monmouth
Here’s an overview of the admissions process for our MBA programs.
Admissions Criteria & Application Requirements
To be considered for admission:
- A four-year baccalaureate degree in any academic area
- One or more of the following:
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 in your four-year baccalaureate degree
- GMAT, GRE, or LSAT score
- CPA or CFA licensure
- Master’s or doctoral degree
Your MBA application must also include:
- Resume
- Essay (up to 500 words) explaining your goals for the program and why Monmouth is a good fit
- Two letters of recommendation (optional) – these should be from a professional or academic contact, such as a supervisor, mentor, or colleague
Please note Advanced Accounting applicants must have the following Monmouth prerequisites or the equivalent from other institutions:
- BA-311: Intermediate Accounting I
- BA-312: Intermediate Accounting II
- BA-401: Advanced Accounting
- BA-370: Accounting Information Systems OR BA-413: Auditing Theory
- BA-316: Individual Income Tax OR BA-417: Business Income Taxation
Please note that Finance applicants must have the following Monmouth prerequisites or the equivalent from other institutions: MA-117 Quantitative Analysis for Business I and MA-118 Quantitative Analysis for Business II.
