DNP Leadership Immersion Opportunities

As part of the DNP program you’ll also complete a 500-hour leadership immersion experience. Students choose a immersion site based on their interests and are paired with a leader within that specialty that guides them through the immersion experience. This allows you to expand your leadership skills as you put theory into practice.

DNP Curriculum Requirements

Your 36-credit DNP degree requirements include a mix of leadership, research-focused classes, and practical learning experiences. Courses include: 

  • Translating Evidence Into Clinical Practice

DNP Project

The doctor of nursing practice project allows you to integrate your research interests while improving healthcare outcomes as you develop and implement your project. This comprehensive experience culminates your academic growth and provides you the opportunity to disseminate your findings to the greater healthcare community.

Admission Requirements

Here’s an overview of the admissions process for our doctor of nursing practice program.  

DNP Admissions Requirements & Application Process

To be considered for admission:

  • Be a graduate of an accredited MSN program (or have a master’s degree in a related field, such as an MBA, master’s of public health, or master’s of health care administration.)
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Hold an active RN license in the United States
  • Be currently employed as a registered nurse

Your application must also include: 

  • Resume
  • Personal vision statement of your leadership role to improve health outcomes
  • Two letters of recommendation, professional or academic
  • Current liability and malpractice insurance of $1,000,000 to $3,000,000.

Select DNP candidates may also be invited to complete a telephone or virtual interview.  

Post-admission requirements:

  • Proof of 500 post baccalaureate hours or take an additional course to complete these hours prior to registering for leadership immersion courses. Students must have a total of 1000 immersion hours prior to graduation.
  • Prior to starting the immersion experience courses, students must submit a certificate of good health from a primary care practitioner, including a health history and physical examination with associated laboratory studies, immunizations, and criminal background checks in accordance with the special requirements of affiliation contracts with clinical agencies.

Monmouth University’s bachelor’s degree in nursing degree, M.S.N., and D.N.P. programs, and post-graduate APRN certificates are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
