Your Username and Password

I. To Activate Your Account or Reset Your Password

If you are new to Monmouth or forgot your password:

Call the Password Activation and Reset line: 732-923-4600 (available 24/7)

Your username and password is the same for accessing your MU systems, computer labs, and residence halls (M: drive):

  • username is a lowercase “s” in front of your seven digit Student ID number (s#######)
    • Example: sxxxxxxx@monmouth.edu
  • password is the password received from the Password Activation and Reset line (732-923-4600)
    • The Password Activation and Reset line will issue you a password consisting of 2 digits, 2 words, and the “#” symbol
    • Example password (illustrative only)**: 28baseballtwilight#
    • Note: You must wait five (5) days to change the password you received from the Password Activation and Reset line.
    • ** PLEASE NOTE:
      • The example password above is provided solely as an example of the password you will be issued by the Password Activation and Reset line.
      • When changing your password, always create a unique password.

Access to all MU systems is through myMU, our Monmouth University portal:

Note:  You must have Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in place before you can access your student email and eCampus. After you receive your password, follow these instructions to setup MFA.

If the myMU portal is unavailable, you can access email, WebAdvisor and eCampus individually:

II. To Change Your Password

A. From Your Personal Device

  • Enter your Monmouth email in the username field (username@monmouth.edu)
  • Enter your current (old) password
  • Enter your proposed new password
  • Enter your proposed new password again (to minimize the chance of typing mistakes)
  • Click the Submit button to submit the change
  • Click the Cancel button to clear the form and start over if necessary

Note: Neither your current (old) nor your new password will be shown in plain text. Your password will be securely encrypted when transmitted.

B. From Your Student Email/MS Outlook Web Access (O365)

  • Under your Avatar (Initials), click View Account
  • This takes you to your myaccount.microsoft.com page
  • From the menu, select Change Password
  • Verify your identity/Enter code from your authenticator app
  • Follow prompts to change your password
