Initial Set Up
- Sign in to the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) site with your Monmouth credentials (Full email address as your username and password) if prompted.
- After you sign in you will be prompted for more information. Select Next
- At this point, you have two choices you can either use the Microsoft Authenticator app or a different method, both options are described below
Using the Microsoft Authenticator app
- Select Next on the Keeping your Account Secure screen
- Install the Microsoft Authenticator app if you do not already have it on your phone.
- You will need to Allow Notifications from the app on your phone.
- Select Generate Activation Code and follow the next few steps on your mobile device:
- On the app select Add Account and select Work or School Account.
- Select OK to allow camera access.
- Scan the QR Code on the computer with your phone. Note: The code will expire in 10 minutes. Click Generate New Activation Code if the process takes longer than 10 minutes.
- You are now ready to access applications that require MFA.
Using a Different Method
- In the Keep your Account Secure window, select I want to set up a different method. In the next dialogue box: Choose a different method, select Phone from the drop down menu.
- Enter your cell phone number and choose to Receive a code(Text) or a Call Me (phone call) as your authentication method. You will receive a text or phone call.
- You are now ready to access applications that require MFA.
Changing Options or Devices
- Sign in to the Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) portal with your Monmouth credentials (Full email address as your username and password).
- Select Add a sign-in method, Change, or Delete one of your current methods listed.
Note: If you purchase a new device, and your MFA method is Microsoft Authenticator, you will need to call the Help Desk for an MFA reset at 732- 923- 4357. If you know ahead of time that you will be purchasing a new device, it is recommended to set up an alternative method such as a phone call before getting a new device
Using MFA to Authenticate when Prompted by Applications
- Microsoft Authenticator app: you will receive a message on your device to Verify or Approve, or you may receive a code to enter on your computer or device. Your mobile device may also ask you to enter your phone pin.
- Text authentication: you will receive a six-digit verification code on your device to enter on your computer.
- Phone authentication: you will receive a call with directions to select the #key to authenticate.
