History of the Conference

The Monmouth University race conference was founded in 2008 by Julius Adekunle, Ph.D., and Hettie V. Williams, Ph.D.. This conference has brought together scholars from more than fifteen U.S. states, four continents, and twelve nations. Robin D.G. Kelley, Tera Hunter, Jonathan Holloway, and William Sturkey have all previously served as keynote speakers for this event. This year, marquee speakers will include Crystal R Sanders, Ph.D. (Emory), and Craig Wilder, Ph.D. (MIT).
