Living on campus during the summer is an amazing experience! Summer Housing is different from the Fall and Spring Semesters, so below are the “Top Ten” most frequently asked questions and answers about Summer Housing at Monmouth University.
- What type of housing is available?
- There are two building types offered for Summer School!
- Suite Style Residence Hall (Beechwood Hall) – $274.00 per week
- Suite-style housing
- Double occupancy room
- Kitchen area on First Floor
- On-campus Apartments (Maplewood Hall) – $341.00 per week
- Apartment-style housing
- Double occupancy room
- Kitchen area in each apartment
- Apartments are designated for students who have earned 60 or more credits
- Suite Style Residence Hall (Beechwood Hall) – $274.00 per week

- Can I choose my building for the summer?
- The Office of Residential Life will make every attempt to accommodate students’ requests but room assignments will be made based on availability.
- How am I assigned a roommate? Can I choose my roommate?
- Students must complete a Summer Housing Application. Once complete, the Office of Residential Life will create a room assignment based on room availability
- If a student has a friend that they want to live with instead of being randomly assigned, they may indicate their preferred roommate’s name on their application. Both students must indicate the other student’s name on their application or they will not be paired up as roommates.
- Applications are received on an ongoing basis. The Office of Residential Life will make every attempt to accommodate roommate requests based on space availability.
- Are the residence halls air-conditioned?
- All summer residence halls and apartments are air-conditioned!
- Can we bring our own refrigerator? Microwave? Coffeemaker?
- Students are permitted to bring a refrigerator no more than 1.6 amps or 3.2 cubic feet in size.
- Keurigs and other single-serve K-cup-style coffee makers are permitted.
- Stand-alone microwaves and all other appliances are not permitted in the residence halls. There is a microwave located in the lobby/lounges of each residence hall for students to use.

- Who is available to assist me when I’m on campus?
- The Office of Residential Life hires and trains undergraduate students to serve as Resident Assistants (RAs) in the halls. This staff member is available to assist students in their transition to living on campus and helps ensure the safety of all residents. There is a staff member available 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days a year.
- Can I bring a car to campus?
- Yes! You are permitted to park on the Residential side of campus from the beginning of May through mid-August. Some lots on the academic main campus will still be restricted, but the residential parking lots near the residence halls will be waived.
- What dining locations are open? Is there a meal plan?
- Gourmet Dining will have various locations open Monday through Friday with limited hours.
- Gourmet Dining will send out information on summer operational hours and availability.
- When will I find out where I am living? When is the move-in day?
- Housing requests are due by March 24th, 2023 via the e-trieve form: https://etcentral.monmouth.edu/#/form/379
- Any housing requests received after March 24th, 2023, will be assigned based on availability.
- Housing assignments received by March 24th, will be emailed to your student email accounts no later than March 31st, 2023. This housing assignment will include the name and email of your roommate.

- How can I make the most out of my summer experience on campus?
- Summers are great at the Jersey Shore! There are many internships, volunteer and employment opportunities available, as well as fun summer activities like hiking, biking, and the beach.
- On-Campus events and programs happen frequently, so watch out for our event calendar and emails!
