“The Inmate”, by Freida McFadden

“The Inmate” is a 2022 psychological thriller by Freida McFadden about Brooke Sullivan, a nurse practitioner who takes a job at a maximum-security prison, only to discover her high school sweetheart, Shane Nelson, is an inmate there. The story alternates between the present and the past, exploring Brooke’s complicated history with Shane, who is serving a life sentence for murder, and the secrets that connect them. The novel is known for its suspenseful plot and a twist ending.

“The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot”, by Marianne Cronin

“The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot” is a 2021 debut novel by Marianne Cronin about the unlikely friendship between a terminally ill 17-year-old, Lenni, and an 83-year-old patient, Margot. To celebrate their combined 100 years of life, they decide to create 100 paintings that tell the stories of their lives, exploring themes of friendship, love, loss, and the meaning of life. The book is a humorous, tender, and poignant story that has been praised for its emotional depth and memorable characters.

“The Island of Sea Women”, by Lisa See

“The Island of Sea Women” is a historical fiction novel by Lisa See that follows the lifelong friendship of two women, Mi-ja and Young-sook, on the Korean island of Jeju. The story spans over 50 years, from the 1930s to the 2000s, and explores their lives as members of the haenyeo, a unique all-female diving collective. The novel delves into the challenges of their friendship, which is tested by historical events like Japanese occupation, World War II, and the Korean War, as well as personal betrayals and loss.

“The Seven Year Slip”, by Ashley Poston

“The Seven Year Slip” is a 2023 contemporary romance novel by Ashley Poston about Clementine, a book publicist who falls for a man named Iwan who lives seven years in the past. The story involves a magical apartment that acts as a portal through time, and it explores themes of grief, self-discovery, and love.
