Undergraduate preparation for law school can take a variety of paths, and students are encouraged to explore their specific interests in the wide variety of programs of study that Monmouth offers. The First Year Advising Office provides resources that assist in guiding students so they can explore options that would tie in with their specific interests and the law. Students are encouraged to select a major that supports their individual interests and intellectual strengths and consult with an advisor about what major would best suit their goals within the legal world. Monmouth will offer a B.A. in Political Science with a Concentration in Legal Studies (effective in Fall 2014) that provides a framework for students interested in the law, from preparation for law school to a starting point for paralegal career opportunities.
Additionally, Monmouth offers a minor in legal studies, several minors for specific content areas, as well as a variety of law-based course content. First year students can take a first year seminar that focuses on the law, debate, or a content area in the law that interests them.
