Student Sustainability Ambassador

I am a marine and environmental biology and policy (MEBP) major and I plan to graduate in May 2024. I am involved on campus via the club field hockey team, First to Fly club, MEBP club, and surf club. Besides being a student ambassador for our Sustainability Council, I am also an orientation leader and a greenhouse assistant in our campus greenhouse. A fun fact about me is that I have three recreational and one AAUS scientific scuba diving certifications.

Meet Riya Ajmera

Riya Ajmera

Student Sustainability Ambassador

I am a pre-med majoring in chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry and a minor in journalism, graduating in May 2023. I stay involved on campus by being the former vice president of the Student Government Association and the vice president of Friends of Animals at Monmouth. A fun fact about me is that I received the 2019 Gold Award Girl Scout award for my created project, “Simply Saving the Planet.”

I wrote a white paper on mitigating offshore wind farm impacts on marine environments in the Mid-Atlantic with the support of an Urban Coast Institute Heidi Lynn Sculthorpe Scholars grant. I also served as the first-ever student perspective on the closing panel of the Mid-Atlantic Ocean Forum hosted by MACO.
