LeaderHawk Student Leadership Workshops

Are you a current Student Organization Executive Board member or general body member who is looking for training and developmental opportunities that will assist you with being your best in your role? Are you looking to learn about various resources and tools necessary that can help you maximize your leadership potential? Are you looking to create the best student organization experience for you and your members? If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, then Student Organization Essentials is right for you! 

LeaderHawk Sessions: These trainings and workshops are offered throughout the year for current executive board members and general body members. The topics offered assist student club and organization leaders in learning how to carry out their organizational responsibilities and how to support their student organization. 

Learning Outcomes 

  • Using knowledge acquisition and critical thinking skills, student organization leaders will be able to manage their organizations as demonstrated by their understanding of new policies and procedures established by Student Life departments and the University.
  • Student organization leaders will use intrapersonal competence and practical skills to display an array of effective communication skills.
  • Through thoughtful workshops and discussion, student organization leaders will be able to cultivate new ideas and ways to build communities and teams. 
  • Student organization leaders will be able to identify problems within their community as educated and involved community members and learn and propose solutions. 

LeaderHawk Spring 2025

Treasurer’s Training Refresher (1 hour Refresher Trainings): 
Facilitator: Vaughn Clay, Ed.D., Director of Student Engagement

Thursday, January 30, 12-1 pm| Zoom Session

Description: Attending this treasurer training will provide current treasurers with helpful resources regarding how to manage your organization’s funds, as well as be beneficial in learning and understanding the rules and regulations of the Office of Student Engagement. The facilitators will use this refresher training to go through best practices for treasurers to avoid some of the issues noticed last semester. 


Travel Planning Refresher (1 hour Session) 
Facilitator: Amy Bellina, Director of Student Life for Logistics and Student Center Operations 
Tuesday, February 11, 12pm-1pm | Student Center – Room 202-A
 
Description:
If your student organization is planning to take any trips or participate in travel this semester, your attendance is encouraged at this workshop! We will discuss important policies and procedures, emergency procedures, how to work with transportation companies (bus, car, etc.), and how to satisfy all travel requirements. We will be available to answer any questions and provide information to improve the quality of your experience. 


Crowdfunding/Fundraising for Clubs and Organizations (1 hour Session)
Facilitators: Emily Blaser, Digital Giving Officer, Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving & Vaughn Clay, Ed.D., Director of Student Engagement

Description: Learn the art of crowdfunding and fundraising in this interactive program designed for college students.  Gain practical skills, explore effective strategies, and discover how to turn your ideas into successful campaigns to achieve the goals you have for your club or organization!


Navigating Imposter Syndrome in Student Leadership (1 hour Session)
Facilitatators:  Chris McKittrick, Ed.D., Director Counseling and Prevention Services & Tanner Purdy, 2024-2025 SGA President

Description:  This session will explore strategies to overcome imposter syndrome and thrive as a student leader in this empowering program.  Build confidence, embrace your strengths, and learn tools to lead with authenticity and resilience.


Leadership Vision Boards (1 hour Training)
Facilitator: Lauren Pfisterer, Area Coordinator, Office of Residential Life

Description: Discover the power of visualization and strategic planning as you craft your vision for success. Through guided exercises and hands-on activities, you’ll clarify your goals, articulate your values, and map out actionable steps to lead your organization to new heights!


Social Media & Brand Strategy (1 hour Training Session)
Facilitator: Nic Burr Social Media Coordinator, Marketing and Communication

Description: Discover the ins and outs of social media platforms and learn how to leverage them effectively to market your organization and events. From crafting compelling content to understanding analytics and engagement strategies, this workshop equips you with the skills needed to amplify your organization’s presence online. Join us to unlock the potential of social media as a powerful tool for connection, outreach, and growth.


Conflict Resolution (1 hour Session)
Facilitator: Chris McKitrick, Ed.D. Director of Counseling and Prevention Services

Description: Join us for an interactive workshop on conflict resolution skills tailored for your organization. In this workshop, you’ll learn effective communication techniques, active listening strategies, and collaborative problem-solving approaches to navigate and resolve conflicts constructively. Gain valuable insights and practical tools to manage conflict while fostering a culture of understanding and cooperation in your organization.


Transitions Training: Leading the Monmouth Way!  (1 hour Session)
Facilitator: Mustafa Sabuur, Assistant Director of Student Engagement
Monday, April 7, 12pm-1pm | Student Center – Room 202-B

Description: Transitioning into a student organization executive board position can be stressful. Attending one of the Leading the Monmouth Way programs will provide new officers with the skills to hit the ground running once they officially adopt leadership roles. Refreshments will be served. *We encourage orgs to facilitate elections for the following academic year by the week following spring break.
