Rights, Voice, Protections: Co-creating Social Justice in an Eco-social World

Join the International Federation of Social Workers for our virtual event in support of the 62nd Session of the UN Commission for Social Development, Rights, Voice, Protections: Co-creating Social Justice in an Eco-social World. The priority theme of the 62nd session is: Fostering social development and social justice through social policies to accelerate progress on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to achieve the overarching goal of poverty eradication. February 9, 2024, from 9:45-11 a.m. (EDT).

The International Federation of Social Workers side panel event will focus on eradicating poverty through realizing the right to development within planetary boundaries. Ensuring that workers are included in participatory processes and have access to social protections mirrors the People’s Charter call for co-creating social justice. This work is done through building on organic community systems that provide support among family, friends, and co-workers for generations. The social solidarity economy movement along with the provision of decent work generate income and poverty alleviation in ways that focus on smaller scale and community-level projects emphasizing people and environment.
