    Research Projects

You can enhance your MA in Public Policy studies with numerous research opportunities by working with the Monmouth University Polling Institute and communications department as a data collector and analyst. You’ll be collaborating with some of the experts in the field, including the director of our Polling Institute, who was recently rated by as one of the best pollsters in the nation.

Recent research and polling projects have included:

    • E-government in New Jersey: Students collaborated with the Monmouth University’s Polling Institute to determine the extent to which New Jersey municipalities use their Web sites to inform, transact with, and engage citizens.
    • Government transparency: A student's conference paper on governmental transparency was selected as the best paper presented by a graduate student at the Northeast Conference of Public Administration at Rutgers-Newark.
    • Domestic use of drone aircraft: Students developed questions for a national poll conducted by the Monmouth University Polling Institute to assess the domestic use of drone aircraft, as part of their course work in "Public Opinion and Media."

As a Master of Arts in Public Policy student, you can take advantage of numerous internships in local government, nonprofit agencies, law enforcement, educational institutions, public policy-related organizations, and other organizations that develop or implement public policies and encourage citizen participation in democracy.

    Tom Crane Service Award

The annual Tom Crane Service Award recognizes volunteer and community service by a graduate student in the MA in Public Policy program at Monmouth University. The award was made possible by Joy Crane, a former department secretary for 31 years.

This $1,000 award commemorates her late husband, Tom Crane, who was a friend of the department and the University. Tom was heavily involved in service throughout his life, and this award honors students who demonstrate Tom's active commitment to local or global service projects.
