Model UN Team

The department’s Model UN Team is open to all students, and no experience is required.

The team participated in the National Model United Nations Conference in New York City and competed in London, England and Zurich, Switzerland in the spring of 2017. In doing so, the team was successful in accumulating several awards for their position papers, resolution writing, and diplomatic skills. Through Model UN, students are given the unique ability to diplomatically represent various nations, while serving on several different issue committees and councils. In addition, students are exposed to international travel and engage in lively debates and fruitful discussions with students from all corners of the world.

Club members are expected to prepare immensely prior to each conference by researching their topic areas, preparing position papers, and outlining resolutions. Due to the amazing conferences that are provided, students are expected to earn their way onto the plane. At each conference a head delegate will be assigned to deal with logistical coordination as well as serve as an active leader for all other delegates. The successes of Monmouth’s Model UN Team comes from the immense support of the university community and the university’s Strategic Plan. The Office of Global Education, the Honors School, and the Office of the Provost are monumental to our club’s growth due to their unwavering support of student initiatives.
