Recreational Facilities

An intrinsic part of Monmouth’s appeal is the availability of excellent on-campus recreational facilities. Monmouth encourages conference participants to take full advantage of its outdoor, all-weather running track, six tennis courts, four outdoor basketball courts, fitness room, and indoor swimming pool. The 240,000-volume Monmouth University Library, including the historic Guggenheim mansion, is open to guests. The intimate Lauren K. Woods Theatre, seating 150 people, offers one of the best-known summer theatre programs at the Jersey shore.

In addition, the attractive Atlantic Ocean beaches are less than a mile from campus. Several other outstanding attractions are easily accessible from campus, including public and private golf courses, fishing, boating, Monmouth Park and Freehold horse racetracks, shopping malls, the PNC Arts Center, Sandy Hook National Park, and Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park. Six Flags Great Adventure Amusement Park is a 30-minute drive, and the Atlantic City casinos are only an hour away. Numerous area restaurants cater to all tastes and styles.

Over the years, Monmouth’s outstanding facilities and exceptional reputation have attracted major events and performances. Recent visitors include U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, American Red Cross President Elizabeth Dole, actor Robert Urich, comedian Jim Breuer, singer Bob Dylan, and the Vienna Boys Choir.
