The MA in English can be completed in two or more years part-time, or in three full-time semesters by enrolling in a summer semester to accelerate study. Students may focus their study by pursuing one of three concentrations.
In the Literature concentration, students can study a broad range of literature or work closely with one or more faculty members to pursue a more narrowly focused field. Current or prospective teachers interested in broadening their knowledge of literature, as well as students interested in pursuing graduate study beyond the MA, will find this concentration valuable.

The Rhetoric and Writing concentration is ideal for students whose goal is to teach at the community college level as well as for students already teaching at the high school level who wish to enhance their knowledge of rhetoric and the methods of and theories behind teaching composition. The program combines literary study with coursework in:
