Tony MacDonald, director of the Urban Coast Institute (UCI), was recently named one of the Jersey Shore’s Most Influential People by Asbury Park Press in the Beach Advocates category of the 2024 list. The category features local individuals working on the front lines and behind the scenes to keep our beaches clean and accessible to all.
“Under MacDonald’s leadership,” the article states, “the [Urban Coast Institute] has become a center for science and research that looks at how humans interact with the fragile coastal environment. Initiatives include working with local governments to help them better withstand the impacts of storms and climate change.”
