Mission Statement

In keeping with the Mission of Monmouth University’s School of Science, the Department of Biology fosters a transformative learning experience by promoting active learning, scientific reasoning, and critical thinking while maintaining a rigorous academic environment in which the potential of each individual can be realized. Promoting a culture of scientific collaboration, inquiry based learning is facilitated by small classes that allow for individual interaction with faculty and fellow classmates. The department is committed to experiential learning through course and laboratory exercises, educational field experiences, and participation in research, internships, and cooperative education programs. The Department is devoted to discovering and nurturing the talents and interests of students and guiding them in choosing a career for a successful life after Monmouth.
