Trustees Tasha Youngblood Brown ’97 ’03M, Valerie Montecalvo Named to NJBIZ Best 50 Women in Business List

Monmouth University Trustees Tasha Youngblood Brown ’97 ’03M and Valerie Montecalvo were named to NJBIZ’s Best 50 Women in Business list for 2022. All nominees will be honored at an in-person ceremony at The Palace on Somerset Park in Somerset, NJ, on Oct. 26 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

NJBIZ’s list recognizes 50 women who “have made a significant impact on New Jersey business and the community at large.” After an open nomination process, a panel of independent judges selected this year’s honorees using a points system to evaluate submissions.

Youngblood Brown is a managing director in the Government and Public Sector practice of Ernst & Young and the secretary of the Board of Trustees at Monmouth. She has 26 years of expertise in the areas of auditing and accounting, information technology, risk management, and business strategy across industries including the government, health care, life sciences, technology, and education. She also serves as the president of the Long Branch Board of Education and as board treasurer of the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council (EMSDC), working with minority-owned, women-owned businesses and corporations as an advocate for supplier diversity. Youngblood Brown earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and MBA in accounting from Monmouth University, and was elected to Monmouth’s Board of Trustees in July 2020.

Montecalvo is the founder of Bayshore Recycling in Woodbridge Township, NJ. She serves as a trustee for the Clean Ocean Action, Monmouth Conservation Foundation, and Robert Wood Johnson/Monmouth Medical Center, and is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Commerce & Industry Associate of NJ. She was the first woman to serve as President of the National, Construction Material Recycling Association (2013-2016) and was a former Trustee to the NJ Chapter of The Nature Conservancy. Montecalvo was elected to Monmouth’s Board of Trustees in July 2018, is a working co-chair of the Together We Can campaign and serves as a member of the Leon Hess Business School Dean’s Advisory Council. She has established several scholarships at Monmouth University, including the Montecalvo Family Annual Scholarship and the Montecalvo Family Endowed Scholarship.
