Jing Zhou, MFA, associate professor of Art and Design, received the UX Design Award at the 2021 Peru Design Biennial, the second international award for her work Cradlr: A Design Project for Refugee Children—a United Nations Academic Impact project at Monmouth University.
The Design Biennial of Peru (LA BIENAL) is an organization formed to promote the design industry as a whole. It is the pioneer of its kind in America and one of the largest exhibitions in the world. The 2021 Biennial drew 65,980 applicants from around the world to participate in a wide range of design categories. Zhou is one of the 14 winners; each category has one winner. A panel of international jury consisted of 14 prominent designers and curators among whom 10 were invited from Europe, Asia, and North America.
“El Comercio,” the oldest newspaper in Peru, reported on this biennial edition “Peru Design Biennial: opens the largest exhibition of the design sector held on the continent.” The Biennial was inaugurated at the Santo Domingo Museum in Lima, Peru on Dec 3, 2021.
