Joe Rapolla ’90 MBA, specialist professor and chair of the department of Music and Theatre Arts, is one of four finalists for the 2024 Music Business Educator of the Year Award presented by the Music Business Association. The winner of this and six other crowd-nominated categories will be announced as part of the Music Biz 2024 Conference at the third annual Bizzy Awards dinner in Nashville on May 15.
“I am incredibly honored to be a finalist for the Music Business Association’s Music Educator of the Year,” said Rapolla. “It’s because of Monmouth’s support and the dedication of the students in the Music Industry program that have enabled it to be such a success. I’m fortunate to work with amazing colleagues and industry partners, and help prepare students for the broad range of opportunities that exist in today’s music industry.”
The Music Business Educator of the Year Award is designed to “celebrate a music business educator who inspires students to enter the music business.” In addition to this honor, the Music Business Association will also be naming its winners of the Leading Light Award, Agent of Change Award, #NEXTGEN_NOW One to Watch Award, Maestro of Metadata Award, Frontline Innovator Award, and Marketing Superstar Award.
The Bizzy Awards dinner will be hosted by Gina Miller, senior vice president and general manager of MNRK Music Group, and will feature a special performance by Angie K. The event will also recognize its 2024 Presidential Award Winner, Cameo Carlson of mtheory, and its 2024 Impact Award Winner, The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC). Additional performances and special guests will be revealed in the coming weeks.
