Monmouth University President Patrick F. Leahy and Polling Institute Director Patrick Murray have been named to the 2022 NJBIZ Education Power 50 list. This is Leahy’s third and Murray’s fourth time being featured.
This year, NJBIZ highlights education experts who “will ensure that the next generation – and the one after that – will be equipped to move the state forward.” The list represents a variety of skillsets and reflects the “continuing need to deal with the fallout from the pandemic, to redress historical inequities and meet the needs of the state’s important economic actors.”
In its profile of Leahy, NJBIZ emphasizes accomplishments including welcoming the first class of students in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program, as well as appointing Pamela Scott-Johnson as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs, and Raj Devasagayam as dean of the Leon Hess Business School. NJBIZ also credits Leahy for overseeing Monmouth’s recent No. 18 ranking in the U.S. News & World Report 2022-2023 “Best Colleges” (Regional Universities North) list, “a sign that the school is gaining prominence.”
Murray’s listing praises him for running “one of the most highly regarded measures of public opinion in the country,” which is “rigorous and reliable, consistently receiving an A rating from 538.com.” NJBIZ notes that Murray “routinely appears on television news programs covering national elections and is a go-to source for political journalists of all stripes.”
