Monmouth University’s new Music Industry Webinar Series, which was developed to inspire, inform, and educate students interested in the music industry, will host its first virtual event, “Contracts Made Simple,” on May 26 at 2 p.m. The inaugural guest will be Jessie Winker, Esq., a New Jersey native and attorney at LaPolt Law P.C., which specializes in intellectual properties and entertainment law. The event is free and open to the public.
Created by Rashida Scott-Cruz, adjunct professor in the Music and Theatre Arts department, the webinar series will feature rotating guest speakers and industry experts to give insight and guidance on various topics related to the music industry. The series was inspired by students in the music industry program, as well as members of Blue Hawk Records.
“Many of the students I work with seek one-on-one consult regarding specific aspects of our industry that arise as they pursue projects and careers,” said Scott-Cruz, who teaches business of music and experiential learning music industry internship courses. “The Music Industry Webinar Series was created to address this need, with the goal that students are inspired to host and lead upcoming events based on trending topics related to the industry.”
The “Contracts Made Simple” webinar will be co-hosted by Scott-Cruz and Tina Sciliano, music industry student.
