Monmouth University’s Department of Communication is proud to announce that five students recently earned grand prize awards at the National Broadcasting Society’s 51st Annual National Undergraduate Student Electronic Media Competition. The National Broadcasting Society (NBS) presented these awards at the 72nd National Convention held in Hollywood, California, from March 10 to 16. Students attending the convention were able to attend workshops, talk to industry professionals and participate as audience members at television show tapings such as “The Price is Right” and “Conan.”
Monmouth University students have done very well in past competitions at the NBS. Dr. Chad Dell, associate professor and chair of the Department of Communication explains, “If you visit the halls of the radio and television facilities in the Plangere Center, you’ll see a multitude of award plaques from NBS on display. They reflect the passion, creativity and drive our students possess. It’s an important national confirmation of the strength of our students and our program.”
This year’s grand prize winners include:
• Audio Comedy Segment “007 Hickfall” by Eric Brewer, Sewell, NJ
• Audio Sports Segment (Tie) “HDHH: Homecoming Football Game 2013” by Erik Massimino, Eatontown, NJ and Joe Callandrillo, Belford, NJ
• Drama Program Scriptwriting (Tie) “Bumpers” by Courtney Carr, Laurel Springs, NJ and “Shock Therapy” by Jessica Rossi, Matawan, NJ
