“‘Unveiling the Global Sixties,’ grew out of my interest in looking beyond the familiar American and Western European story of the 1960s and examining the decade as a genuinely global phenomenon. My interest in the period has grown considerably in recent years, particularly through my teaching and writing about the Beatles, and I came to feel that I had more to say about the 1960s and their significance,” Campbell said.

The book begins with the postwar period and widens to include topics such as the Chinese Cultural Revolution, the Arab-Israeli conflict, the struggle of African nations for independence, the impact of the Cold War on nonaligned nations, and key developments in Latin America.

Campbell has taught multiple courses on the Beatles and Bruce Springsteen, in addition to writing and editing a number of books on various topics, including “The Beatles and the 1960s: Reception, Revolution, and Social Change.”
