LIFT Mentoring Circles

The mission of the LIFT Mentoring Circles Program is to provide academic and social support for incoming first-year students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Through programming and tailored support, this year-long initiative builds an inclusive community that supports incoming first-year and returning students in holistic development.

The LIFT Mentoring Circles consists of two important elements: monthly themed discussion circles on student success and transition and other events held by the Intercultural Center or campus partners. For 2020, the LIFT Mentoring Circles will be held digitally. Check out our program calendar for upcoming meetings. Please note, you do not have to attend every session to participate in the program and graduate students are welcome if the topic of discussion is of interest!

Diversity and Inclusion Certificate: 2020 Theme Antiracism

This brand new co-curricular opportunity is open to all students at Monmouth University and sponsored by the Council of Chairs and the Intercultural Center. The cohort of students who participate in this certificate will select and attend ~10 point-earning events between September 2020 and May 2021 that relate to this year’s theme. Events may include virtual and in-person faculty guest lectures, external speakers, book discussions, processing sessions, Monmouth-sponsored conferences, and continuing educational workshops, attendance at theatre, music, or arts events on campus.

Events can be submitted for the program from anyone on campus including staff, academic departments, and student organizations! If you are currently planning on holding a program that fits within this year’s theme, please submit the event here.
