Nurse Faculty Loan Program

NFLP funding has been allocated for the 2023-24 academic year. Potential funding for the 2024-25 academic year will be determined by August 1.

The Nurse Faculty Loan Program provides MSN and DNP students interested in a nurse educator role post-graduation the opportunity to benefit from partial loan forgiveness up to 85%. In exchange, students commit to four years of postgraduate service in a nurse educator role, which may include being employed in a full-time nursing faculty role in an accredited institution or in multiple part-time nursing faculty roles such as, precepting or orienting nurses in their clinical position over a period of four years in which loan forgiveness occurs.

Graduate nursing students are required to enroll in the Nursing Education courses (12 credits) by either enrolling in the MSN Nurse Educator Program or extending their degree requirements in the MSN Nurse Practitioner Program or the DNP program as a part of their commitment to the NFLP.

Requirements as a Student

MSN or DNP students must enroll in the Nursing Education courses (12 credits) or extend their degree requirements by completing the following courses.

  • Curriculum and development – 3 credits (online)
  • Tests and Measures – 3 credits (online)
  • Seminar and practicum I – 3 credits
  • Seminar and practicum II – 3 credits

Post-graduate Commitment

Students participating in the Nurse Faculty Loan Program must commit to serving four years in a faculty role that meets the requirements post-graduation to maintain eligibility for partial loan forgiveness.
