    Overflowing with gorgeous melody, Mozart’s witty romantic comedy follows two sailors who switch places to test their fiancées’ faithfulness, with hilarious results. Hailed as “colorful, inventive” by The New York Times, PhelimMcDermott’s (Satyagraha, Akhnaten, The Hours, The Enchanted island) production updates the setting to an amusement park inspired by Coney Island in the 1950s, featuring sword swallowers,
    fire breathers, contortionists, and more.

  • Marvin Heiferman, “Why We Look”

    As part of the ArtNOW Visiting Artist Series, Marvin Heiferman will speak about grief, photography and image sharing. After the March 2020 COVID-related death of his husband – the noted cultural critic and curator Maurice Berger – and when grief struck and as words failed him, Heiferman suspected photography wouldn’t.  Since then, daily postings of images and their accompanying captions on his Instagram account have functioned as intimate, frontline reports on the experience and processing of grief.  Widely viewed and written about, his online project has engaged thousands in a communal dialog and is now the subject of an upcoming documentary film short.

    A film by Nadine Labaki about faith, hope and love. In a remote Lebanese Village women band together and cleverly scheme to prevent their men from killing each other. This comedy drama, with a mix of musical numbers, portrays Muslim and Christian women of a remote mountain community outside Beirut as the leaders keeping their warring Christian and Muslim husbands from engaging in a civil war as tensions in Lebanon mount.
