Careers and Outcomes

Monmouth students with a major or minor in communication have opportunities to obtain internships and pursue positions in many prominent media organizations, including news outlets, television stations, tech start-ups, magazines, and radio stations. With two major media markets (New York City and Philadelphia) only an hour from campus, a variety of career possibilities are available for students in any of the three B.A. clusters: Media Studies and Production, Journalism/Public Relations, and Communication Studies.

Effective communication skills can be applied to virtually all careers. Communication students at Monmouth are well-prepared to become competent writers, speakers, critical thinkers, and problem-solvers in fields such as business, law, education, government, and the arts. With the knowledge and hands-on experience they acquire through the program, students can adapt, meet, and exceed the challenges in today’s career market.

Students frequently meet with invited guests and alums to meet and network with practitioners in the field.
