Systems Administrator Intern  

Position Summary 

Stephenson Technologies Corporation (STC) is seeking a motivated Systems Administrator Intern to support our Systems Administrator with the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and security of STC’s information technology environment. 

This is a hands-on internship designed for a student interested in gaining practical experience in systems administration, cybersecurity, networking, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, and general IT operations. The intern will work alongside STC’s Systems Administrator to support users, maintain computer systems, assist with security and compliance activities, troubleshoot technical issues, and document IT processes. 

Key Responsibilities 

Assist the Systems Administrator with daily administration and maintenance of STC’s IT environment. 

Configure, deploy, and maintain Windows endpoint devices. 

Assist with Microsoft 365 administration, including support in Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. 

Assist with new employee onboarding and offboarding, including account creation, equipment setup, permissions, and device configuration. 

Provide Tier 1 technical support to employees experiencing IT related issues. 

Maintain accurate inventories of laptops, systems, software, licenses, and other IT assets. 

Help maintain technical documentation, system configurations, network diagrams, procedures, and IT standard operating procedures. 

Assist with cybersecurity and compliance activities, including documentation and evidence collection related to organizational security requirements. 

Assist with reviewing security logs and system alerts under the direction of the Systems Administrator. 

Research new technologies, security tools, and system administration best practices. 

Perform other IT and cybersecurity-related duties as assigned. 

Preferred Qualifications 

Currently pursuing a degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 

Basic understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems and computer hardware. 

Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications and services. 

Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Wi-Fi, and firewalls. 

Interest in systems administration, cloud computing, cybersecurity, or IT infrastructure. 

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 

Ability to learn new technologies quickly. 

Good written and verbal communication skills. 

Strong attention to detail and ability to document technical work. 

Ability to work independently while also collaborating with technical staff and end users. 

Helpful Experience 

Experience with any of the following is a plus, but not required: 

Microsoft 365 administration 

Microsoft Azure or Entra ID 

Microsoft Intune 

Microsoft Defender 

Active Directory 

Microsoft Windows desktop and server administration 

PowerShell 

Cisco networking or VPN technologies 

Endpoint management tools 

Vulnerability management tools 

Backup and recovery systems 

Virtual machines or virtualization 

Linux 

Cybersecurity frameworks or compliance requirements such as NIST SP 800-171 or CMMC
