Oswego County Social Services has immediate openings for Support Examiners to investigate, locate, and secure support payment from individuals legally responsible for the support of children. Most of the investigative work is performed in the office via personal interview, correspondence, phone contacts, and computerized records.  The work is performed under the general supervision of a Senior Support Examiner. 

Qualifications: Two (2) years of study (60 credit hours) at a regionally accredited or NYS registered college, university, or business school; OR Two (2) years of experience in examining, investigating, or evaluating claims for assistance, veteran’s or unemployment benefits, insurance, or a similar program operating under established criteria for eligibility. 

This title has been approved to be filled without the need to take an exam for a limited time through the HELP Program. Candidates appointed permanently to this title will NOT need to take an exam and will remain in their position even when the HELP program ends. 

Pay Rate: $23.12 per hour plus competitive benefits package including: health, life, dental and vision insurance; NYS Retirement; and Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
