Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth, strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.

DJJ is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Program Specialist. This role effectively plans, implements, and ensures quality assurance and fidelity across a statewide continuum of services. To effectively plan and coordinate SPEP™ implementation and development to strengthen and improve outcomes through partnership, education, and transparency.

Job responsibilities include, but not limited to:
 

  • Demonstrate the skill and ability to analyze and solve problems, including gathering information, anticipation of problems, review of the accuracy/validity of information, interpreting data, drawing conclusions, weighing of impact of decision-making, and facilitation of implementation of recommendations/solutions.
     
  • Demonstrate the ability to clearly present information in written and oral formats; simultaneously and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects; and work independently and within a team.
  •  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff from various levels of agency operations.
     
  • Ability to travel to detention centers across the state.
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of evidence-based programs and services in the juvenile justice field.
     
  • Considerable knowledge of methods of training, coaching, and technical assistance, program evaluation, and program monitoring processes.
     
  • Working knowledge of risk assessment instruments and developing assessment-driven case plans.
     
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and other computer software including spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and presentation packages.
     
  • Demonstrates knowledge of detention center operations.
     

Additional Considerations

  • Considerable professional experience in program development and implementation, program evaluation, and providing technical assistance, including project leadership functions.
