Gohn Hankey & Berlage LLP is seeking qualified applicants with a Bachelor’s degree or higher for a one- to two-year legal fellowship.

Gohn Hankey & Berlage is a Maryland-based law firm with offices in Baltimore and Annapolis. Our attorneys specialize in business law and commercial litigation, covering matters that include complex business and real estate transactions, bankruptcy, and intellectual property disputes. The firm represents a broad array of clients from individuals and small businesses to large multi-national clients. The firm has been recognized by, among others, Fortune Magazine® as a “Go-To” law firm.

You will have the opportunity to assist all the firm’s attorneys in both administrative and substantive capacities but will report primarily to Jan Berlage. Jan is a trial attorney whose practice includes bankruptcy, intellectual property, and commercial litigation. Jan is an active member of the community, serves on various committees, and presents regularly on various legal issues. In addition to completing important administrative duties, you will be expected to perform legal research and writing on a regular basis. You will participate in all stages of a case, learning the ins-and-outs of the legal world and serving as second chair at trials and hearings.

An ideal applicant will feel at ease communicating with clients and other attorneys, will be driven to work thoroughly and efficiently, and will be eager to gain insightful experience in the law.

This is a small firm where you will be given real responsibility. Applicants should be looking forward to achieving great distinction in law, business, academia, or other fields. Past legal fellows applying for law school have been accepted to Harvard, University of Michigan, NYU, Cornell, Columbia, University of Chicago, University of Virginia, Vanderbilt, and others. They have also all made their schools’ Law Review publications.

Qualities required: Integrity, drive, organization, resourcefulness, and self-motivation.

Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis. Please forward your resume, cover letter, undergraduate transcript, and writing sample to Kayla Cotter and Charlie Nuermberger at kcotter@ghsllp.com and cnuermberger@ghsllp.com.
