Development & Fundraising Strategy Intern (IN PERSON ONLY)

Part-Time (~20 hours/week) · Coral Gables

About the Opportunity

A prominent Cuban nonprofit — an organization that has spent decades preserving and championing the Cuban exile experience — is partnering with a philanthropic advisory firm to build out its fundraising strategy and strengthen its long-term organizational foundation. We’re looking for a motivated intern to support this work and gain hands-on experience in nonprofit development, donor strategy, and community engagement.

This is a rare chance to see how a real fundraising strategy comes together from the ground up, while contributing to a mission rooted in cultural preservation and community pride.

What You’ll Do

  • Working closely with the advisory team and organizational leadership, you’ll support projects such as:
  • Donor & prospect research — helping identify and organize information on community leaders, potential supporters, and next-generation donors
  • Fundraising materials — assisting with the development of donor-facing messaging and the case for support
  • Membership & outreach strategy — supporting the design of a membership model and strategies to turn community engagement into lasting support
  • Relationship mapping — helping map networks of board members and leadership to surface high-potential connections
  • Meeting & project support — preparing materials for working sessions, taking notes, and tracking follow-ups and deliverables

What You’ll Gain

  • Direct mentorship from experienced philanthropy and fundraising professionals
  • Practical skills in donor strategy, prospect research, and nonprofit operations
  • Insight into how mission-driven organizations build sustainable support
  • A meaningful role in preserving an important cultural legacy

Who We’re Looking For

  • Current student or recent graduate interested in nonprofit work, fundraising, communications, public relations, business, or a related field
  • Strong writing, research, and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working independently
  • Interest in or connection to the Cuban-American community is a plus (but not required)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
