Given the uncertainties and the heightened state of alert the nation is currently under, we have some important information regarding the safety and security of the campus. The University’s Crisis Management Team has met several times to review its current crisis plans and to discuss additional policies and plans that need to be formulated. In doing so, several sub-groups of the Crisis Management Team are currently working on various areas such as communications, campus evacuation or consolidation, business continuance contingencies, etc.
In addition, we have implemented a number of other strategies, which while transparent to the general University community are critical in our efforts to protect the campus. Among those actions are the issuance of special radios to emergency personnel to aid in our ability to communicate in the event of power outages or disruptions and the verification of the identity of delivery personnel through the Mail, Shipping and Receiving Department. Unfortunately, there may come a time when more aggressive action is warranted and the plans currently in place or being formulated now are intended to address this situation.
Available for your information is a Security Alert Policy, which we have developed for immediate implementation in the event that a situation occurs that affects the University or its members. Please familiarize yourself with this document.
Your cooperation is vital in helping us to provide the safest possible environment. Additional information will be forthcoming concerning the various security plans in process. As always, your comments and suggestions are appreciated. Please feel free to contact us and share your thoughts.
The campus Crime and Fire Logs are available for your review at the police department at any time, day or night, 24/7/365
