The Big Event: Worksite Application Form

  • Thank you for agreeing to host a work site as part of the Big Event! The 2023 Big Event will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. or whenever the worksite completes its assignment(s)..
    • Worksites should be prepared to welcome their assigned volunteers between 9 and 9:30 a.m. on the day of the event.
    • Worksites are responsible for providing any/all of the necessary tools/supplies that the volunteers would need to complete their assignments.
    • Each worksite must have a person(s) to meet the volunteers on the day of the event.
    Things Big Event Volunteers can do Clean, plant flowers, shrubs and trees (within reason), rake leaves , pick up debris, lay mulch, perform minor landscaping (no power/gas equipment can be used), assemble furniture, playgrounds, etc. (within reason), paint as long as paint is provided, pick up trash, put together care packages for troops, oversees missions, etc., and/or interact with people (students, veterans, elderly, etc.). Things Big Event Volunteers cannot do Provide: paint, mulch, flowers, shrubs, trees, monkey grass, other ground cover, lumber, nails, special cleaning products etc. Perform work in excessively high places or on a ladder higher than 6 feet. Carry anything over 50 lbs. (if you would like the volunteers to carry something remotely heavy, please let us know so we match the right students with your site). Use any equipment that needs a power source (gas/diesel, electric, etc.). Burn debris. To expedite the processing of the work site applications, we ask that you answer all of the questions in sections 1, 2 and 3.

  • Using the fields below, please specify the task(s) to be performed. Since the Big Event is held rain or shine, we ask that you include both inside and outside jobs for the volunteers. Please note that work sites are responsible for providing the necessary supplies or tools related to completing the requested job(s). We also request that work sites not include assignments that would require volunteers to operate power tools, climb ladders, or have special training (plumber, electrician, carpenter, arborist, etc.)

  • Please Note: We will make every effort to fill your need for volunteers, however it may be necessary for us to add or subtract volunteers to work sites based on the number of people who actually check-in on the day of the event.
  • I certify that I am the owner or the person who is permitted to approve the work site request as part of the 2023 Big Event. I understand that completing this form is only a request and it is subject to final approval by the Monmouth University Big Event Committee.
