I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the military and political history of the United States, the Civil War and Reconstruction the Cold War, and World War II. My research interests include the history of political education in the United States and the history of American soldiers as political actors. Currently, I am studying both the conduct of U.S. civics education in the Cold War and the political attitudes of U.S. Army officers during Reconstruction.
