Rajnarind Kaur, MBA, adjunct professor in the Department of Management and Leadership, contributed a chapter, “Larhs of Love,” to “Kaurs Reimagine: Sikh Women Blaze New Trails,” an anthology focused on Sikh women’s truth-based narratives as a literary space for acceptance, healing, and transformation.

This collection gives a voice to 24 Sikh women along with the opportunity to pause, reflect, and express truth-centered narratives that choose a way forward towards their own spiritual peace and liberation. The stories reveal “unspoken taboos, silent and searing pain, courage, joy, and victories en route to our highest selves,” according to the book’s description.
Kaur’s chapter takes place during her son’s Dastaar Bandi, a turban ceremony similar to a Bar Mitzvah in which a young person comes of age. The different ‘larhs’ are the layers in the turban, representing the various roles of Kaur’s life, including daughter, sister, wife, mother, Wall Street executive, professor, and board member. Kaur lends her unique perspective of growing up in Ocean Township as the only Sikh girl in school and currently being the only Sikh professor at Monmouth to her professional work and her teaching.
“We are extremely lucky to have Professor Kaur as an adjunct here,” said Raj Devasagayam, Ph.D., dean of the Leon Hess Business School.
