Monmouth University announced the recipients of the Hess Scholarship at a reception held in Wilson Hall on November 19. The Hess Scholarship was created to recognize outstanding academic performance and provide an incentive for high academic achievers who did not attend Monmouth University for their undergraduate degree to enroll in the MBA program by providing a financial incentive and recognition of their achievements.
Hess Scholars for 2013-14 are Chanelle Beardsley (Toms River, NJ); Mathew Centeno (Brick, NJ); Sandra M. Kosinski (Rahway, NJ); Chris Liljestrand (Saratoga Springs, NY); Lauren A. Naples (Sayerville, NJ); and Yuliya Shedrinsky (Marlboro, NJ).
The Hess Scholars receive a $4,000 scholarship each year for up to three years that can be used toward tuition and fees in the MBA program. This scholarship is awarded in addition to any Graduate Fellowship money they receive from the University.
There is no application process, but to be eligible, students must have applied and been accepted into the MBA program and not have attended Monmouth University for a previous degree. Grade point average, test scores, previous degree, and institution are the primary considerations for the award.
According to Dr. Donald Moliver, dean of the Leon Hess School of Business, “We are pleased to recognize these outstanding students, and by awarding them scholarship funds, we applaud their past academic achievements while simultaneously elevating our student profile. We will continue to award Hess Scholarships to attract the best and brightest MBA students in the region, which is consistent with the Princeton Review’s ranking that places Monmouth University as one of the top 295 business schools in the nation.”
