Cost and Financial Aid

Graduate Loans

At Monmouth, we understand the importance of affordability with any graduate program. To help students finance their education, a variety of loan programs are available. The four programs listed below will provide graduate students—wherever they are in their professional lives—the financial flexibility to pursue one of MU’s many degrees and certificates.

  • Federal Direct Loan

This program is the largest source of low-interest loans administered by the U.S. Department of Education. Students must meet specific eligibility requirements.

  • Alternative Loans

These loans are available from private lenders and are a viable option for students who are either ineligible to borrow through the Direct Loan program or who have exhausted their eligibility for Direct Loan funding.

  • Federal Direct PLUS Loans

Students interested in borrowing a Direct PLUS Loan must complete the Request Process and PLUS application. To be eligible, students have to meet a series of general requirements.

  • Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP)

The US Department of Health and Human Services has made funding available to the University to loan to master’s degree students who intend to work as full-time nursing faculty. Students must
    meet specific eligibility requirements.
