Announcements Regarding New Title IX Regulations

On April 19, 2024, the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) issued a new Title IX Final Rule which became effective on August 1, 2024. These regulations apply to complaints of sex discrimination, including sex-based harassment which are alleged to occur on or after this date. Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program or activity that receives federal funding.

In response to the new Title IX final rule, Monmouth has adopted two new policies: Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Policy (involving Student Respondents) and Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Policy (involving Faculty and Employee Respondents) which will be applied to alleged incidents of sex discrimination which occurred on or after August 1, 2024.

Monmouth will continue to utilize additional existing policies for complaints of sex discrimination and sexual misconduct which are alleged to have occurred prior to August 1, 2024 or may otherwise not be suitable for the new policies which may include:
