Announcements Regarding New Title IX Regulations

On May 6, 2020, the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) issued new regulations which mandate how colleges and universities, including Monmouth University, must investigate and adjudicate sexual misconduct matters under Title IX. Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any education program or activity that receives federal funding.

Monmouth’s existing sexual misconduct policies comply with the law and with prior OCR guidance. Monmouth is required to review and update our current policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the new regulations.

Over the next several weeks, the University will be carefully reviewing the new regulations while determining the best way to implement the new requirements in a manner that continues to provide equitable and fair support for individuals involved in these matters. We know that there are many in our campus community who will wish to actively engage in this process and we will reach out to varied constituents for input.

Questions and comments can be sent to TitleIX@monmouth.edu.
