Q&A With Prachi
Looking back, what Political Science Department activities outside the classroom had the biggest impact on you and your future career success?
“The PS department always had so many activities and opportunities outside the classroom for me to get involved in! Reflecting back, Debate and Model UN helped create the foundation I needed to be successful in my workplace. Both activities developed my ability to critically think and problem solve. When I would travel for tournaments, I would always come back with a new understanding on global issues and academic perspectives. I strongly believe that no matter what field your future career path is in these experiences and skill sets will help you every day!”
What advice would you offer current Political Science Majors?
“Often times being a PS major we have in our head that law school is the only option. I was very fortunate to have mentors and professors who helped me explore outside of that realm. My advice to PS majors would be to dedicate yourself to the work and keep trying new things such as Debate and Model UN. The reward is worth it! Along with that, being social and networking within your major helps build connections out in the real world. Some of my strongest bonds are with my friends that I met through the Political Science Department.”
