Are you passionate about youth sports and helping kids learn the value of teamwork, fair play, and fun? The Stevens Point Area YMCA is seeking responsible and enthusiastic Youth Sports coaches to teach basic skills and rules and create a positive and safe experience for all.

 

This is more than just making the calls—it’s about being a mentor, role model, and motivator for young athletes while promoting the Y’s values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

 

As a Youth Sports coach, you will:

  • Officiate youth sports games in accordance with YMCA policies and sport-specific rules.
  • Teach basic game skills, encourage good sportsmanship, and maintain a fun, safe environment.
  • Promote a positive and respectful attitude 
  • Communicate with participants and parents
  • Inspect play areas for safety, enforce rules, and respond appropriately to injuries or emergencies.
  • Serve as a visible leader, role model, and resource for players, families, and volunteers.

 

Requirements

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of youth sports rules and fundamentals (soccer, basketball, flag football, volleyball, etc.).
  • Experience working with children or in a youth sports setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, fair, and professional in all game-day situations.

Certifications (required within 60 days of hire):

  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment regularly.
  • Active, on-your-feet role—must be able to move easily around sports fields or courts.
