Youth Development Specialist – After School Support (AmeriCorps) – Mission Graduates

As a Youth Development Specialist with BAYAC AmeriCorps, you will support students through academic enrichment, literacy development, and positive youth programming. This position is hosted at Mission Graduates, a San Francisco-based organization dedicated to empowering youth and families on the path toward higher education and fulfilling careers.

AmeriCorps Members serving in this role will support daytime and after-school programming focused on improving literacy, strengthening student and family relationships, and creating engaging learning environments for youth.

Responsibilities

  • Support daytime and after-school programming for elementary and middle school students
  • Provide academic assistance and literacy support to students in individual and group settings
  • Facilitate enrichment and cultural activities that promote student engagement and learning
  • Build positive relationships with students and families to support student success and community connection
  • Assist with classroom management and maintaining a safe, structured, and welcoming environment
  • Support curriculum implementation and student learning activities
  • Collaborate with program staff and school-day partners to support student academic growth
  • Help organize program materials and prepare activity spaces for students
  • Participate in family engagement activities and organization-wide events
  • Attend trainings, meetings, and professional development opportunities

Job Details:

Job Type: Full-time, Contract

Pay: ~$2,700 per month 

Location: In person (Mission Graduates – San Francisco, CA)

Schedule:

  • 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
  • Monday to Friday
