Southeast Center for Independent Living (SCIL) is a non-profit organization that services individuals with disabilities in the Greater Fall River and New Bedford areas. We provide skills training, advocacy, information and referrals, transition and prevention services, and peer counseling to individuals who wish to become more independent in their life.

Position Summary:

To work closely and effectively with students with disabilities (14-22), parents/guardians, employers, high schools, and community partners. To educate and train students with disabilities in areas focused on skills training, peer counseling, and pre-employment services, including work readiness training, job exploration, self-advocacy, work-based learning experiences through internships, and post-secondary educational opportunities to increase their skills and independence into adulthood.

Qualifications: 

  • Must have knowledge and/or experience working with youth with disabilities, including behavioral health, substance abuse, cognitive, hearing and vision, and physical disabilities.
  • Human Services Degree or related field or four-year equivalent life experience in dealing with disability issues and/or four years’ experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle.
  • Clear background checks as defined by regulations and policies.
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Bilingual, Spanish speaking a plus 
  • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
