Job Description
As a Navy Surface Warfare Officer (SWO), you will lead Sailors and manage advanced warships operating around the world. Surface Warfare Officers are responsible for mission readiness, navigation, ship operations, and leading teams in high-pressure environments both at sea and ashore.
SWOs serve aboard destroyers, cruisers, amphibious ships, and aircraft carriers, gaining hands-on leadership experience early in their careers while operating some of the world’s most advanced technology and weapon systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Sailors aboard Navy ships
- Oversee navigation, operations, and mission planning
- Operate advanced weapons, radar, and combat systems
- Support global security and humanitarian missions
- Manage engineering, maintenance, and shipboard operations
- Make critical decisions in fast-paced operational environments
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to meet Navy medical and physical standards
