Summer Patient Care Liaison – Onsite (Rural Retreat, VA — expanding to Abingdon & Roanoke)

$15/hour | Onsite Only | Summer Position with Room to Grow

Looking for a meaningful summer job that does more than fill your résumé? We’re hiring a dependable, compassionate college student to step into a Patient Care Liaison role for the summer, covering for someone who’s away.

This is a great fit if you’re studying nursing, psychology, public health, pre-med, social work, or anything healthcare-adjacent — but those majors aren’t required. What matters is reliability, patience, and being comfortable with simple technology.

You’ll help patients inside a partnering healthcare facility attend their virtual psychiatric and medical appointments — setting them up on the facility iPad, making sure the device is charged and ready, and being a calm, friendly presence throughout.

Schedule & Pay

  • Starts light: Tuesdays & Thursdays (occasional Fridays), around 6 hours/week
  • Strong potential to ramp up to nearly full-time within the next several weeks
  • $15/hour, onsite

What You’ll Do

  • Help patients get to their scheduled virtual appointments within the facility
  • Set up the iPad for each telehealth visit (Zoom/telehealth apps already installed)
  • Keep the iPad charged, connected to Wi-Fi, and working properly
  • Troubleshoot simple tech issues (volume, camera, log-in, connection)
  • Let providers know when a patient is ready and help keep sessions on schedule
  • Log completed appointments and flag any missed sessions to staff
  • Be a warm, supportive presence for patients

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently enrolled college student (or recent grad) available for the summer
  • Comfortable with basic technology and tablets
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Reliable, organized, and punctual
  • Any experience in healthcare, mental health, assisted living, or patient support is a plus, but not required
  • Must be able to work onsite in Rural Retreat, VA

Work Location: In person
