Job Summary

Senior Counselors serve as the primary caregivers for campers, ensuring their well-being, personal growth, and engagement in camp activities. This role involves planning, leading, and supervising activities while fostering a positive and inclusive camp environment. 

 

Camper Supervision & Engagement 

  • Supervise and guide campers throughout all activities to achieve desired camper outcomes. 
  • Apply fundamental youth development principles, including communication, relationship-building, respect for diversity, and youth empowerment. 
  • Maintain active supervision of campers at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being. 
  • Adhere to and enforce all camp safety protocols and guidelines. 

 

Program Implementation & Leadership 

  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities aligned with the camp’s mission and objectives. 
  • Lead and support various camp activities, including swim instruction (must be in the pool during swim lessons). 
  • Encourage individual and group participation in camp programs based on interests and abilities. 
  • Assist in specialized program areas, such as waterfront, nature, arts and crafts, and all-camp events. 

 

Health & Safety 

  • Maintain high health and safety standards for campers and staff during all activities. 
  • Provide daily care for campers, including recognizing personal health needs. 
  • Ensure campers receive medications as directed by the camp nurse. 
  • Remain alert to the personal and health needs of campers and staff, reporting concerns to the camp nurse or management as needed. 
  • Monitor equipment and facilities for proper use, care, and maintenance, reporting necessary repairs to camp management. 

 

Role Modeling & Camp Community 

  • Serve as a positive role model for campers and fellow staff members through behavior, attitude, and professionalism. 
  • Uphold and enforce all camp safety and security rules. 
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship, hygiene, and adherence to the camp schedule. 

 

 OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide verbal and written evaluations and reports as requested. 
  • Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, leading and supporting programs as assigned. 
  • Contribute as a team member to ensure the success of camp programs, special events, and all-camp activities. 
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
