Are you passionate about sports, fitness, and helping people of all ages learn, grow, and have fun? The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) is looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and dependable Rec-Sports Instructors to lead and inspire participants in our community programs!

Whether you love teaching kids their very first sport or guiding adults in honing their skills, this is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in a supportive, high-energy environment.

What You’ll Do

As a Rec-Sports Instructor, you will bring class descriptions to life! You’ll lead dynamic sports activities, build fun curriculum, and foster a safe, positive space for learning.

  • Lead & Teach: Direct engaging sports instruction, drills, and activities tailored to various ages and skill levels.
  • Create & Collaborate: Partner with the Recreation team to design exciting class curriculum and track participant progress.
  • Build Relationships: Identify behavioral needs, communicate with parents/participants, and share achievements with the team.
  • Keep It Safe: Maintain a safe environment by following agency protocols, tracking attendance, and monitoring equipment.
  • Champion Our Values: Bring positive energy, embrace diversity, and uphold the JCC’s mission every day.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

  • Age: Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Background: Recreation background required.
  • Experience: Previous experience coaching or teaching children and/or adults in a recreation setting is highly preferred.
  • Certifications: American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification is preferred (or ability to complete upon hire).

  • Leader: Energetic, organized, flexible, and an excellent verbal communicator.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well independently and as part of a team, give/receive constructive feedback, and adapt on the fly.
  • Growth Mindset: Dedicated to creating an environment that fosters physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Stay Active: Must be comfortable standing, walking, running, jumping, throwing, and catching alongside participants.
  • Lifting: Frequently lifting/moving up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.

Flexible Hours & Scheduling

We offer flexible shift blocks throughout the week to fit your schedule! Hours are available during the following windows:

  • Monday – Friday 9:00-12:00pm
  • Monday – Friday 1:00-3:00pm
  • Monday – Friday 4:00pm – 6:00pm (5:30pm on Fridays)
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00-10:00pm
  • Saturday 9:00-12:00pm
  • Sunday – 8:00-12:00pm & 12:30-4:30pm
