The Prevention Specialist is responsible for promoting substance use awareness, education, and access to recovery resources that support the well-being of individuals and families in Dodge County.  This role focuses on engaging with the community, providing education on available services, and fostering connections to promote healthier lifestyles. The Prevention Specialist collaborates with local organizations, schools, and community groups to increase awareness of services, facilitate educational presentations, and promote access to support. Additionally, The Prevention Specialist will assist in developing outreach materials, coordinating events, and ensuring that information about available services is widely accessible. Key areas of focus for this role include building strong community relationships, delivering educational resources, and helping individuals connect with appropriate support services to improve overall health and well-being.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Social Work, Education, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in substance use prevention, education, or community outreach preferred
  • Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including adults, youth, families, and community organizations
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to work well with individuals from diverse economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds and LGBTQ+ identities
