Spring 2027 Policy Analysis Internship
Who is Scioto Analysis?
Scioto Analysis is a Midwest-based public policy analysis firm that helps state and local policymakers understand the likely effects of public policy decisions. We conduct cost-benefit analysis, economic impact analysis, and other quantitative policy research for governments, nonprofit organizations, and foundations.
What will I do?
The policy analysis intern will co-author a cost-benefit analysis with the principal, write at least one blog post, and may be asked to contribute to client or firm work. Expected time commitment is 10 hours a week for 12 weeks during the spring of 2027 (January 11–April 2, 2027).
Who will I work with?
The policy analysis intern will report directly to Principal Rob Moore.
What will my days look like?
This internship will be fully remote. We expect you to attend weekly staff meetings Mondays at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time and a weekly one-on-one with the principal. Otherwise, you will be in charge of managing your own hours.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent analytical writing and strong quantitative reasoning skills
- Ability to evaluate evidence, identify assumptions, and explain conclusions clearly
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, communicate progress, and produce accurate work
- Willingness to receive feedback and revise work
- Coursework or research experience in microeconomics or econometrics
- Interest in state and local public policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience collecting, cleaning, or analyzing quantitative data
- Experience using R or another statistical programming language
- Experience communicating technical findings to a nontechnical audience
Compensation
Interns who complete the program will receive a $1,800 stipend for their time and effort.
